The top 5 Remarketing strategies that your business needs to implement today

Retargeting is one of the buzzwords that most marketing professionals throw around When it comes to online advertising, retargeting is one of the most effective tools in a marketer’s toolkit. Retargeting allows you to show ads to people who have already visited your website or interacted with your brand in some way. In this article, we would breakdown strategies so that you can select the retargeting strategy that is best for your business.

There are a number of different ways to reach your audience via retargeting ads, and the right strategy for you will depend on your business goals. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the most effective retargeting strategies and how you can use them to drive results for your business. Let’s talk about how you can actually get started.

Although retargeting is straightforward, putting together a retargeting strategy will probably take a second and a little bit of intentionality, especially if you need your ads to bring in conversions.

The long-term sales boost of implementing a retargeting strategy is worth every second and penny you invest. Here are some of the options you need to consider as you venture into the field of retargeting strategies:

SOCIAL MEDIA

Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn can be used to reach your ideal customers. This means that you can reach specific customers depending on the action that they take on your website, page, or with your brand.

Social media is a great place to implement a retargeting strategy because followers and friends are more likely to engage with brands if they are reminded about them. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn can be used to reach your ideal customers.

How do you implement a retargeting strategy through your social media channel? Take, for instance, you are selling the world’s greatest pen. Your initial contact(or your first ad) should be to introduce people to the benefits of using your writing material. At this time, most people are just learning about your product, so they are not likely to take action. But, they are more likely to indicate interest by liking the post, sharing the post, sending a direct message, or even commenting on the post. All they might need is more convincing.  So you hit them with a testimonial of someone his/her/their life changed when they started using the pen. And if they are still not convinced, you follow up with a final ad that contains a gift, the holy grail which is usually referred to as a discount or a special offer in today’s business.

Is this accessible to all businesses? The answer is an outstanding “yes” but it kinda depends. This is because you need to implement Facebook retargeting can be done by implementing a Facebook feature called Facebook pixels to your website, It would enable you to create targeted ads specifically for people who viewed or purchased your products. You can also reach customers who have added items to their cart but never checked out, you can remind them of their abandoned shopping cart. Or more simply, you can feature a product that visitors showed an interest in.

You can also segment your audiences by certain criteria like the value of their shopping cart and whether they repeat customers, so you can present them with ads specifically suited to them. You can find out different ways how to implement a retargeting strategy on Twitter and Facebook in a future article, so make sure you subscribe by clicking here. EMAIL

Email marketing is a great way to reach more people and get the most out of your campaign. In its own right, Email marketing is a retargeting campaign. This is because you cannot get someone’s email without them being interested in what you have to offer. The only challenge is proper segmentation.

You need to learn how to segment your contact list based on certain filter options that depend on your overall marketing strategy or business model.

A few options that you have could be

  • Where they are coming from
  • What they interacted with
  • What business niche they are from
  • How they found out about your business
  • How many times they have interacted with your business?
  • Their location
  • How much their business spends
  • And so on…

The main thing you should consider when developing these filter options is the factors that determine if a customer buys from your business in the first place.

Let us use Brandlife digital as an example. We specialize in providing Digital marketing and communications services to SMEs from all over the world. One of the most important factors to help us consider you as a business is a stage at which your business is. We determine this by the documents or lead magnet that you download from our websites or social media channels.

By implementing retargeting email campaigns, you can increase the chances of people taking a second look at your business and then taking action.

A few platforms that we can recommend in no particular order are:

  • Mailchimp
  • Awebber
  • Get response
  • Zoho campaigns
  • Sendinblue
  • Constant Contact
  • HubSpot
  • ConvertKit

VIDEO RETARGETING

This is one of my favorite versions of a retargeting strategy. Excluding the fact that people are more likely to take action when they see a video, video retargeting is one of the most effective ways to reach your customers.

Graph showing interest based on video views in relation to remarketing strategy

With Facebook and Instagram ads, you can retarget people who have already seen your videos or who are close to watching till the end. If they’ve watched your video all the way through till the end, you can follow up with a related product ad. Or if they’ve only watched the first 30 seconds of your two minute video, you can remind them to finish watching it.

By using this retargeting strategy on YouTube, you can reach those who have commented or liked one of your videos. This provides a great way to continue to promote your content and reach new viewers. You can also target visitors to your website with video content – just like you would with any other advert – on platforms that support it, like Facebook and YouTube.

With the Google Ads platform, you can reach anyone who has interacted with your videos or YouTube channel, as well as people who see your videos on Display ads, websites and apps. As regards YouTube videos, always make sure viewers are directed to the next video in your video series.

LINK RETARGETING

Businesses use retargeting to reach people who have already interacted with their products or services. If someone has never visited your website, using a link retargeting strategy can help you attract new customers. With link retargeting, you can reach people who have shown an interest in your social media posts.

Let’s look at this example; If you share a review of one of the products or media coverage of your business from a third-party website, you can target ads to people who click on them.  You can reach people who have clicked on your curated content.

Let’s look at another example, you own a fashion accessories brand and if someone clicks on an article you wrote on fashion accessories on a third-party website or blog, you can reach them with ads related to the topic. People who have read this article probably like what you do, even if they haven’t visited your website. When you visit a page on the internet, your browser would remember that you have visited that page before and show you ads that are related to what you have seen on that page before.

Link retargeting is an easy way to implement a retargeting strategy. You can share a shortened link to the content you want to share from Facebook, Google, or any other platform you’re using on social media.

Adding retargeting strategies to your marketing mix can help increase your chances of conversions.

In conclusion, Retargeting can be time-consuming and complicated to set up if you do not have a retargeting strategy in mind, but following everything written in this article would help you get the most out of your advertising budget.

Retargeting is a way to keep your customers interested and coming back to your website. It can help you increase conversions over time and keep your customers engaged.
